Service Cancelled – Sunday, January 31st

January 30th, 2010

Let’s face it. I’m a yankee and would never cancel service due to snow if it were just about me. I love the snow and ice. I like looking at it and driving in it. But I’m not in the north anymore and realize that snow and ice can be very dangerous for those who haven’t needed the experience to drive on it.

We also don’t know what today and tonight holds. With possible snow and rain throughout the day and below freezing temperatures overnight, Sunday morning driving could be very poor conditions and I would rather not put you faithful at risk.

With all of these things in consideration I have decided to cancel this Sunday’s service. Enjoy this Sunday morning at home and see you next week.

Message Series: The Dark Passenger

January 11th, 2010

“Hello, I’m…not sure what I am.

I just know there’s something dark in me. I hide it. I certainly don’t talk about it. But it’s there. Always.

This dark passenger.

And when he’s driving, I feel…alive. Half sick with the thrill, complete wrongness. I don’t fight him. I don’t want to. He’s all I’ve got. Nothing else could love me, not even, especially not me.

Or is that just the lie the dark passenger tells me? Because lately, there are these moments when I feel…connected to something else, someone.

And it’s like the mask is slipping…

and things…

people…

who never mattered before, are suddenly starting to matter.

It scares me.”

Is there a “dark passenger” inside of you that you’ve been afraid to admit and unable to control? You’re not alone. In fact we all deal with the “dark passenger” and it drives us all differently but with the same goal in mind…complete control.

Join us as we discover and expose the dark passenger in us all and perhaps find the key to freedom once and for all.

Series begins January 17th, 2010 at 10am. See you there!

“Coming Soon” or “Where we should have been”

January 5th, 2010

In the beginning of each year we tend to look back at the past year and wonder why we didn’t accomplish more. This is true of the church as well. Why didn’t we do more missions, give more, do more, grow more? The answer could be that we didn’t work hard enough or we were distracted by less important things. The answer is probably both.

LifePoint did a lot of great things in 2009. Our contributions to each new Habitat home, our drive for The Caring Place and Blythe Bower kids. We had a huge and uncomfortably hot Servolution event where we touched a lot of peoples lives with the love of God. We did it all for no other purpose than to serve Christ and love His creation. I couldn’t be more proud. I am excited at what God will do through us in 2010.

Those were the high points and most the time thats all most churches will reveal. The messy stuff doesn’t generally bring new people through your doors so we tend to skip it. But God is using the tough times just as much as the good times to make us all that He wants us to be. We’ve lost people we care about, struggled with our not so better halves, and fallen way short according to many church experts. And through it all I know that God is still madly in love with us and has big plans.

So you take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have LifePoint. A church in an unashamed pursuit to love God as much as He loves us. I think that’s something to work towards. While we work towards that here somethings that are happening at LifePoint.

Where did the music go

In case you don’t already know, we no longer have a worship leader. To close out the year I led the music and while I am just good enough to fake it I know it’s not what God has called me to do. So I won’t be doing it anymore. I have made a new years resolution to not live outside the provision of God and that includes things pertaining to LifePoint. When God sends us a worship leader we will have the music He has prepared for us. Until then we will have the messages that God has placed in my heart and each other. I can’t explain how excited and at peace I am about this.

Children of the Theater

This is a year of radical change for our children. We will be producing and amazing environment for our children to discover and explore God. This will take money and labor from all of us but our children are more than worth it. They have been entrusted by God to us and we are going to do it big.

Coming Series: The Dark Passenger

On January 17th we will be starting a brand new series called, The Dark Passenger. Check out the video below for an idea of the what the series is about.

Time for the Main Event

Every event we do is important and that is why we are excited that Diette Ward will be joining our volunteer staff as our new Event Coordinator. This means we can do even more than we did last year and it will actually be organized in advance. I know, a novel idea.

2010 is going to be a lot of fun and I expect for some a difficult time. But through it all this will always be true…Jesus is Lord and we will follow Him.

God bless and see you at service.

Message Series: Supernatural

October 14th, 2009

There is a world around us that isn’t experienced with our 5 senses but is still more real than the one we can. It’s filled with deep mystery, great battles, and rich encounters that although not seen by this world, transforms it daily.

You and I are creations of that world and even though we have adapted to this physical environment, there is something in us that beckons us to it. We are here for a moment, always being drawn towards something greater.

Join us as we consider the affect of the world we don’t see on the world we do.

LifePoint and the iPhone

September 25th, 2009

There is no question that the iPhone has revolutionized the mobile phone industry. We have also noticed more and more iPhone users visiting lifepointchurch.tv. Because of this we have created a site specifically for the iPhone (a general mobile site coming soon) with a few added features that we are excited about.

You can view the site simply by visiting http://www.lifepointchurch.tv via your iPhone. You will automatically be redirected to the correct iPhone page. If you don’t have an iPhone here are some screen shots.

001

As you can see the iPhone site has all the same info as the regular site. It is missing the messages page but we are in the process of adding that.

002

The LifePoint blog is also rendered special specifically for your iPhone or iTouch device.

Save it to your home screen and when you load the site you will do so in full-screen mode and see this loading page.

Also, by saving it to your home screen you will get this custom icon to launch the site when ever you like.

That’s it for now. This is only 1.0 so be looking for many more changes and we hope it help everyone connect to LifePoint Church in as convenient a way as possible.

The heart of God and The Caring Place!

September 24th, 2009

logoLast Sunday we talked a little bit about the type of people that change the world. The danger is to focus on being the type of people that “CHANGE THE WORLD” and not first being the “TYPE OF PEOPLE”. God wants to transform us. That’s where it starts. We can never do great things in God unless we first allow him to do great things in us.

This is a journey of repentance, redemption, restoration, and regeneration. This is my journey and this is your journey. That God would take us and our broken and hard heart and give us a new heart…His heart. Many years ago someone prophesied that God was healing me from the names I had been called on my journey and that He was giving me a new name…His Heart. I’m not sure that anything has rattled me much more than that.

My prayer is that God will break our hearts. It is then and only then that we will be able to comprehend the depth of His love for us and those around us.

This week, my prayer is that God would break our hearts for those suffering through unfortunate circumstances throughout Bradley County. Take some time this week and spend $10 to $20 dollars at your local grocery store and bring it this Sunday to LifePoint for The Caring Place. That food could feed a family for a week or more. We made a pledge to raise 1,000 items by this Sunday and we are 400 away from that goal. Let’s make it happen. Not because of a pledge but because of our devotion to the broken heart of God.

Message Series: Crazy

September 14th, 2009

A life dedicated to following hard after God is a life filled with craziness. We can’t hide it any longer. We can’t pretend that it’s just a personal choice to add a little spirituality to our lives. To make this claim is not only ridiculous, it’s dangerous.

What is really crazy is that God chose to take on humanity, walk among us and invite us to follow him on what has the potential to be the most exciting life ever lived. And we’re just talking about this side of eternity.

When he came to the cross he said, “It is finished.” When we come to the cross…it has only begun.

Taken, First Sunday, New & Coming Soon

September 4th, 2009

It’s been a busy week and there are a ton of things going on that we wanted to get you up to speed on.

Taken

This Sunday is week 3 in our series Taken and the topic is misdirection. The Devil likes nothing more than to get our attention on anything other than Christ and so he starts with a little sleight of hand. Don’t be fooled, there is more than meets the eye. Be there Sunday and bring your friends and family for what will prove to become painfully obvious.

If possible, remember to bring some canned goods for the Caring Place barrel. There are people in need and we want to encourage us all to do whatever we can.

NEW

First Sunday

Think of it like Labor Day a day early. It’s the first Sunday of the month so we are going to celebrate by inviting everyone in the church and even not in the church to come and have all kinds of food and beverages while swimming, playing Rock Band, and just simply hanging out with great people.  We would love you to be there so here are the details.

When: Right after service this Sunday, Sept. 6th at 12:30 pm

Where: The Dooley’s (If you need directions please email us at info[at]lifepointchurch[dot]tv

Website

If you haven’t visited lifepointchurch.tv in a while, you should. We have made some changes to put our activity on Facebook & Twitter front and center. All the important info is there but in a much simpler format. check it out and let us know what you think.

COMING SOON

We are really excited to announce that a new LifePoint website is being developed specifically for the iPhone and iTouch. This site will operate much like any app, including the ability to save it to you home screen and access it without using a browser window.

This site will have everything the main site has plus a few items specifically enhanced for the iPhone & iTouch. Be looking for this as early as next week.

See you Sunday…

Message Series: Taken

August 20th, 2009

series-taken

I don’t care who you are, no one likes to be played like a fool. In fact we go our whole lives becoming ever more cynical just so we don’t get caught off guard. When it does happen we try and learn from our mistakes and move on but sometimes we don’t realize we’ve been had until it’s too late.

In this series we take a look at the master con man and look at some of his most common and yet perfected cons. If you think you’re immune to the scam then I have some great ocean front property in New Mexico I would love to sell you.

Series begins August 23rd, 2009 at 10am. Be There!
